Damona Fisher is Director of Brand, Communications & Public Relations at Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield and has spent nearly 30 years educating Arkansans about health coverage, services and community resources. A dedicated public health advocate, she has led several statewide initiatives that have improved the well-being of Arkansas communities.
In 2018, Damona launched the Fearless Food Fight, mobilizing 4,000 volunteers to pack 1.1 million meals to help address food insecurity across the state. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she helped lead the Vaccinate the Natural State initiative, which provided more than 50,000 free vaccinations and earned her the organization’s 2021 Bridges/Allen Award for external service.
Her commitment to improving mental health in Arkansas continued with the creation of the Take Good Care: Mental Health First Aid program, which certified more than 1,000 Arkansans in 2023. She also became a certified instructor, teaching communities how to recognize and respond to mental health and substance use challenges.
In 2023, Damona helped create the Take Good Care: Calming Room initiative, resulting in 75 calming rooms in Arkansas schools to support students’ emotional well-being and readiness to learn. Through her leadership, Damona continues to make a lasting impact on the health of Arkansas communities.
