$5,000 Academic Scholarship

One qualified intern will be awarded a $5,000 academic scholarship, which will be paid to the recipient’s school’s financial aid office. 

Application packets will be reviewed and awarded by the Arkansas Blue Cross Internship Scholarship Committee, comprised of three executives: Tim Gauger, Wanda King and Matt Flora.  The recipient will be announced during the Summer Intern Sendoff event on Wednesday, August 10, 2022.

HOW TO APPLY

Please submit the following items:

  1. Completed internship scholarship application form
  2. Current unofficial transcript
  3. Current resume
  4. One letter of recommendation from direct supervisor/manager or project leader within Arkansas Blue Cross
  5. Internship scholarship proposal

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be a college sophomore or above.
  • Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and be in good academic standing.
  • Must exceed performance standards and expectations while serving as an intern.
  • Must display a high level of participation and engagement in internship program activities.
  • Willingness to complete multiple summer internships at Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield, based on availability.
  • Willingness to work for Arkansas Blue Cross upon graduation, if qualified.

Scholarship Proposal

The internship scholarship proposal will give you an opportunity to explain your future goals to the Arkansas Blue Cross Internship Scholarship Committee. Part of the committee’s decision will be based on the professionalism of your proposal.

GUIDELINES

  • Responses must be typed.
  • Include your full name at the top of each page.
  • Include the full question to which you are responding.
  • Use 200 words or less per question.
  • Your proposal should be clear, concise and professional.

PROPOSAL CONTENT

  1. How has my internship experience prepared me for a career at Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield?
  2. How does Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield’s culture motivate my desire to work here?
  3. How has my experience this summer provided insight into the corporate world?
  4. Why should I be selected for the scholarship?

Entry Deadline

Your completed scholarship application packet must be submitted by Monday, July 25, 2022 at 12 p.m.  Email completed application packets to  kltaylor@arkbluecross.com. Late entries will not be accepted.

Renewal

There is potential for an annual renewal of $5,000 for up to one year. The criteria for renewal are:

  • Continues to be enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited college
  • Maintains a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Complete multiple summer internships at Arkansas Blue Cross and meet internship expectations
  • Willingness to work for Arkansas Blue Cross and express interest in working in the health insurance industry upon graduation if eligible

Please note that an internship opportunity will not be guaranteed.
