VALUES
- We believe our strength comes from being an independent, mutual, not-for-profit health insurance company and that we deliver the best value to our customers and society by maintaining that structure.
- We manage for long-term benefit of the communities we serve, not for short-term rewards or gains.
- We remain financially strong and stable in order to serve future generations.
- Our members are our owners, and we keep their interests central in our business decision-making.
Consumer Experience
We’re always innovating at Arkansas Blue Cross and one of the major advancements is our Consumer Experience initiative.
We have always prioritized members, but today people have more choices. More and more people are buying insurance on their own; even people with employer-sponsored insurance have choices. We want to be their choice. And we have to earn it.
To do so, we have to work hard to deliver a consumer experience that surpasses top performing retail organizations (like Amazon or Apple).
Regardless of the department you’ve been hired into, you’re a part of this mission. From the mailroom to the boardroom, our jobs are highly dependent on one another.
For example, changes in the mailroom affect billing processes, which directly affects our customers. Everything we do – everything you do – must be made with the customer’s wants in mind.
Together, we MUST replace the stereotype that insurance is confusing, complicated and stressful. We NEED customers to feel that we are easy to understand, transparent and their advocate. As you settle into your role here, you may witness exciting changes on how we make this possible. Perhaps you will have suggestions. Please share them with your supervisors. And remember our consumer experience mantra:
Make it simple. Do it now. Leave no doubt.
WHAT IS CONSUMER EXPERIENCE?
Consumer experience encompasses all of the events or interactions our members have with us. This includes how they come to know about us, our products, signing up for a plan, using their insurance and engaging with us when they need us. These are all critical moments when we must provide exceptional service. Our goal is for the customer to always walk away feeling certain they made the right choice when they chose us.
THE COST IS HIGH
Ninety-six percent of unhappy customers will leave before they complain – meaning we rarely get a chance to make it right. When a customer is dissatisfied they will typically complain to nine to 15 people, hurting business.
